The District has scheduled a planned water outage to take place in the vicinity of Middle Camp Road, Longeway Road, Lazy Z Road, and the Nile River Road areas on Thursday, October 14, 2021 as part of the Crystal Falls Techite Pipeline Replacement Project-Phase II. The water shutoff will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Affected customers should receive an automated phone call on October 12th. Most customers in the area will experience service interruption. Some customers at lower elevations may not experience interruption. The Comstock Ranch area will not lose service.
TUD field crews frequently respond to mainline breaks on a waterline in the Cedar Ridge/Comstock area. The pipe segment is the primary transmission line from Crystal Falls Water Treatment Plant and can impact many downstream customers. The current Techite Pipe is obsolete and is very fragile. The breaks are catastrophic resulting in hundreds of thousands of gallons water lost often time causing significant damage to nearby property owners.
Phase I of this project replaced 2,000 feet of 8” water main during the fall of 2020. Phase II of the project began on September 20, 2021, and will replace an additional 2,000 feet of water main. Phase II will be finished in early December, weather permitting. Future phases will replace yet another 5,000 feet of water main. The completed project will result in less labor, equipment, and material cost associated with repair efforts multiple times per year and will also increase water delivery reliability and resiliency. Future phases will also add fire hydrants to Lazy Z Road, an area with high fire risk.
