Traffic Advisory – Water Mainline Improvements on Phoenix Lake Road

Tuolumne Utilities District’s construction maintenance will be replacing an 8-inch water mainline on Phoenix Lake Road starting tomorrow Tuesday, April 5th, as part of its Scenic View Water Distribution Improvement Project.

The work will focus on Phoenix Lake Road between Meadow Brook Drive and Resort Road from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Tuesday, April 5th to Friday, June 3, 2022. Please drive with caution. Traffic controls and flaggers will be staged at the project location. Motorists can expect 15-25 minute delays depending on the time of the day and will be asked to follow a pilot car. If possible, motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route.

The Scenic View Distribution Improvement Project will increase the water flow capacity and efficiency in the Scenic View distribution system, reducing water quality problems and reducing the number of after-hour calls from field staff. Recently, the District completed Phase 1 of the project by installing 2,200 linear feet of 8-inch water mainline and five new hydrants on Upper Hill View Drive in Sonora. The subsequent Phases of this project will include completing the following:

  • Phase 2 Meadow Brook Drive: Install approximately 2,200 linear feet of 8-inch C900 water mainline and four (4) new hydrants
  • Phase 3 Midland Drive: Install approximately 1,800 linear feet of 8” C900 mainline and two (2) new hydrants

“TUD has a responsibility and commitment to address aging facilities, reduce water loss and improve efficiencies. When this project is finally completed, the District will reduce its number of water treatment plants by two and eliminate poor water tanks from service. Furthermore, it will reduce future costs associated with operations and maintenance and capital costs to replace facilities,” states Don Perkins, General Manager.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during the construction of this project.
