Tuolumne Utilities District received $1,700,968 in funding through California’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund for the Ditch Domestics Conversion Project. The funding agreement provides for the consolidation of approximately 19 existing residential properties into TUD’s treated drinking water systems, providing these properties with access to a public potable water supply.

The project will construct approximately 6,185 linear feet of 2-inch, 6-inch, and 8-inch water mains, approximately 7,300 linear feet of service laterals, three pump stations, and associated meter boxes, backflow prevention devices, blowoff assemblies, and pressure-reducing valves. As properties are connected to treated water, existing untreated raw-water connections to household plumbing will be permanently disconnected and decommissioned. Where raw water is retained for irrigation, its separation from the home’s potable water system will be verified.

The project will serve properties across four TUD water systems: Tuolumne, Columbia, Sonora/Jamestown, and Upper Basin. The improvements will help provide these households with a reliable potable water connection while replacing the use of untreated raw water for domestic purposes.
