TUD Board

TUD is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, elected at large; however is currently transitioning to district- or division-based elections starting with the 2022 election cycle. The Board of Directors establishes policies for the operation of the District. The Board employs a General Manager whose responsibility is to ensure that the policies adopted by the Board are implemented. The public is encouraged and invited to attend the regularly scheduled District Board meetings which start at 9am on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. A vacancy on the Board of Directors of the Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD or District) has been created by the resignation of Director Murphy, effective January 10, 2023.  The TUD Board intends to appoint a qualified candidate to this position at its Regular Board Meeting on March 14, 2023.  The term of office of the appointment will expire on December 6, 2024.  Anyone interested in being considered for the appointment must complete the Statement of Interest form available at the District office, 18885 Nugget Blvd, Sonora or on the District’s website:  Statement of Interest Form.  The candidate must be a registered voter and must reside within District 2 or District 5.  You may view District boundaries here: District Boundary Mapping Tool. In addition, to be favorably considered for this appointment, candidates must submit a statement detailing the qualifications that make them an ideal candidate for the appointment.

Board Policies

The primary purpose of the Tuolumne Utilities District is to efficiently provide reliable, reasonably priced water, sewer, and other services authorized under the California State Water Code to customers within its service area and to protect and utilize the available water resources within Tuolumne County for both present and future beneficial uses by residents within the District’s jurisdiction.
