Equipment Mechanic 1 or 2

For the first time in over 25 years TUD is looking to hire another equipment mechanic – don’t miss this opportunity! Searching for a skilled mechanic to perform the inspection, diagnostics, repair and maintenance of gas and diesel powered auto, truck and variety of heavy equipment.

General Description:
Under direct or general supervision of the Fleet Foreman, performs responsible and technical duties related to the inspection, diagnostics and repairs gasoline and diesel powered automotive, truck and a variety of other power-driven equipment. Performs vehicle and equipment maintenance tasks requiring full journey level experience. Performs general repair, maintenance, grounds work and other related work as required.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of full-time experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment such as tractors and excavators.

Education/Certification/License/Experience:
For Equipment Mechanic 1

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must possess or obtain a valid Commercial Class A California driver’s license within six months of appointment, have a satisfactory driving record, and be insurable by the District to operate District vehicles.
  • Must possess or obtain a Master Automobile Technician Certification by the National Institute for Automotive Excellence (ASE) within twelve (12) months of appointment.
  • Three years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. 

For Equipment Mechanic 2
In addition to the qualifications above, the Equipment Mechanic 2:

  • Certified as a Master Automobile Technician or a Master Heavy-Duty Truck Technician by the National Institute for Automotive Excellence (ASE) 
  • Certified by the American Welding Society in pipe or plate welding is preferred.
  • Two years’ experience equivalent to that of an Equipment Mechanic 1.

Salary
The hourly salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience as follows:

Equipment Mechanic 1:     $24.90 – $30.26
Equipment Mechanic 2:     $27.48 – $33.40

Associate Engineer 1 or 2

This position presents a rare and exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and make a real difference in the community! Under general direction of the Senior Engineer or District Engineer,  this position provides professional engineering work as required for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the District water and wastewater facilities; administers agreements and contracts; performs hydrology forecasting and watershed management; performs and/or coordinates periodic inspections of construction projects; evaluates water and wastewater system modeling performed by others; prepares and administers grant and loan applications and programs; provides technical assistance to other District departments, and performs other related work as required.

The Ideal Candidate

Education and Certifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a B.S. and/or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Registered in good standing as a Civil Engineer by the State of California or another state.
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license, and a satisfactory driving record.

Experience:

  • Associate Engineer 1: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
  • Associate Engineer 2: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible engineering experience similar to that of an Associate Engineer 1 with the District.

Salary

The annual salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience as follows:

Associate Engineer 1:      $85,114 – $103,480
Associate Engineer 2:     $95,722 – $116,355
