Accounting Technician (I/II/III)
Under general supervision of the Finance Director, performs a variety of professional and technical duties in support of financial and accounting functions of the District; prepares, processes and maintains accounting and financial records; functional areas of responsibility include accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll; prepares financial transactions and maintains a variety of accounting files and records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles; and performs related duties as assigned.
Education/Certification/Experience: Any combination of training, experience and education that would provide the desired knowledge and skills may be qualifying as determined by the district.
For Accounting Technician I:
- Associate degree or college level coursework in accounting, business administration or bookkeeping is desirable.
- At least three years of responsible professional accounting experience including responsibilities in a variety of accounting functions, or the equivalent in education and experience. Experience processing payroll and at a public agency is desirable.
For Accounting Technician II
In addition to the qualifications above, Accounting Technician II has:
- Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or Accounting desirable.
- Five years of professional level accounting/auditing experience with at least two years governmental accounting. Two years of increasingly responsible accounting experience similar to an Accounting Technician I for the Tuolumne Utilities District.
For Accounting Technician III
In addition to the qualifications above, Accounting Technician III has:
- Seven years of professional level accounting/auditing experience with at least four years governmental accounting. Two years of increasingly responsible accounting experience similar to an Accounting Technician II for the Tuolumne Utilities District.

Customer Service Representative I
Under direct or general supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor, manages large volumes of telephone and in-person customer service inquiries and requests for service; processes customer payments; prepares and processes water and sewer billings, adjustments and other billing records; responds to customer issues and provides appropriate solutions and alternatives in accordance with District Rules and Regulations; transmits and receives radio communication to and from field personnel and advises customers and staff as appropriate; assists in special projects and performs other related duties as assigned.

- Three years of general clerical and accounting office experience, including one year of public contact experience.
- Previous fee collection experience at a utility or governmental agency is desirable.

General Description
Under supervision, performs technical field and office duties supporting the Engineering Department activities related to the planning, design, bidding, construction, installation, maintenance, and inspection including other activities such as surveying, drafting, mapping, researching real property interests and related activities.
The ideal candidate is a team player and reliable employee having 2+ years of recent, progressively responsible experience performing similar duties, especially in construction inspection, is comfortable working in both office and field settings, and can communicate effectively with a wide variety of professionals. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications below may also be considered.
Education/Certification/License/Experience:
For Engineering Technician 1:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent, including drafting courses or demonstrated ability or aptitude to learn AutoCAD. Equivalent to completion of an Associate degree, with course work in mathematics, AutoCAD, GIS, engineering, or related field is desired.
• Must possess and retain a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.

Engineering Technician Flyer
Summary:

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Assistant Engineer: $40.84 – 49.66/hr.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a B.S. in Engineering or related field.
- Possession of a Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate is desirable.
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license, and a satisfactory driving record.
- One year of related experience is desirable.
Associate Engineer: $49.13 – $59.71/hr.

Meter Technician 1
These positions are in the Meter Technician classification (class) series. Under direct or general supervision of the Distribution Superintendent or Distribution Foreman, performs activities related to reading, collecting and recording water meter consumption data; interacts with customers and responds to customer concerns; tests, repairs, maintains and upgrades/replaces water meters and distribution system facilities; may assist in traffic control; and performs other related work as required.
The ideal candidate has demonstrated excellent work ethic, accuracy, and job performance.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Utility Worker 1/2/3
Under direct supervision, performs a variety of construction, maintenance and repair work on water and wastewater distribution, collection, treatment and disposal systems and facilities. Assists and performs work in the installation, maintenance and repair of water and sewer pipelines, services, and appurtenances, fire hydrants, and other District facilities. Performs other related work as required.
Class Characteristics:
Utility Worker 1, is the entry level class in this utility worker series. Under direct supervision, incumbents perform all tasks related to the maintenance and repair work on water and wastewater distribution, collection, treatment and disposal systems and associated equipment and facilities. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, and the work is performed more independently. This class is alternately staffed with Utility Worker 2 and incumbents may advance after gaining experience, obtaining the required level of certification, meeting the qualifications of and consistently performing the work of the higher-level class.
Utility Worker 2, is the journey level class in this utility worker series. Under minimal supervision, incumbents perform all tasks related to the maintenance and repair work on water and wastewater distribution, collection, treatment and disposal systems and associated equipment and facilities. This class may be alternately staffed with Utility Worker 3, and incumbents may advance after gaining experience, obtaining the required level of certification, meeting the qualifications of and consistently performing work of the higher-level class. Incumbents in this classification may assist with the training and oversight of less experienced staff or temporary crews.
Utility Worker 3, is the advanced journey level in this class series. Incumbents are fully competent to independently perform all tasks related to the maintenance and repair work on water and wastewater distribution, collection, treatment and disposal systems and associated equipment and facilities. Incumbents in this classification may assist with the training and oversight of less experienced staff or temporary crews.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Utility Worker 1 (C/M, Distribution, Raw Water, Collections)
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Must possess a valid Class C license, have a satisfactory driving record, and be insurable by the District to operate District vehicles.
• Obtain a Class A or B license (depending on division) with tank endorsement within a specified period of time.
• Must possess or obtain within 18 months of the date of employment, a California Water Distribution Operator or Collections System Maintenance, Grade 1 Certification depending on division assignment.
• One year experience in underground and above ground construction, working on installation, testing, maintenance and repair of pipelines and facilities.
Utility Worker 2 (C/M, Distribution, Raw Water, Collections)
In addition to the qualifications above for Utility Worker 1, the Utility Worker 2 has:
• Current California Water Distribution Operator or Collections System Maintenance Grade 2 certification.
• Two years or more experience performing a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair work on raw or treated water and wastewater distribution, collection, treatment and disposal systems and facilities, including at least one full year equivalent to a Utility Worker, Grade 1.
Utility Worker 3 (C/M, Distribution, Collections)
In addition to the qualifications above for Utility Worker 1 and 2, the Utility Worker 3 has:
• Supervisor recommendation and validation of required certification, experience, and competency.
• Current California Water Distribution Operator or Collections System Maintenance Grade 3 certification.
• Two years or more experience performing a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair work on raw or treated water and wastewater distribution, collection, treatment and disposal systems and facilities, equivalent to a Utility Worker, Grade 2.
• Grade 3 certification can be substituted with a Class A license, and an additional two years’ experience performing a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair work on water and wastewater distribution, collection, treatment and disposal systems and
facilities, for a total of at least five years’ experience equivalent as Utility Worker at TUD.
Utility Worker 3 (Raw Water)
In addition to the qualifications above for Utility Worker 1 and 2, the Utility Worker 3 has:
• Supervisor recommendation and validation of required certification, experience, and competency.
• Current California Water Distribution Operator Grade 3 certification.
• Completion of the TUD Historic Properties Management Plan (HPMP) and CEQA Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration Ditch Maintenance Activities (ISMND) training program, including passing exam.
• Two years’ experience performing a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair work on raw or treated water and wastewater distribution, collection, treatment and disposal systems and facilities, equivalent to a Utility Worker, Grade 2.
• Water Distribution Grade 3 certification can be substituted with an additional two years’ experience performing a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair work on raw or treated water and wastewater distribution, collection, treatment and disposal systems and facilities, for a total of at least five years’ experience equivalent as Utility Worker at TUD.
Work Hours:
7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; five consecutive workdays, or alternate work schedule as determined by the District. May be subject to working Saturday and/or Sunday with consecutive days off. Must be willing to work overtime and/or alternate schedule when required to meet the needs of the District. Must be willing to participate in the on-call standby rotation on a regular basis*; therefore, must live within an 18-mile radius of the District’s main facility unless otherwise approved by the District.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Flyer
General Description
Under general supervision, works as a member of a crew to efficiently and productively perform a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair work on the water distribution system and other facilities; performs other related work as required. Hard manual labor outdoors including cleaning water system ditches, clearing brush, operating weed eater, chainsaw, hand tools in ALL weather conditions.
Temporary assignment for approximately three months from September– December 2025. Temporary/seasonal workers with good performance may be called back for additional temporary assignments as needed.
Qualification Requirements:
