WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR OIT 1/2/3
Two positions available in the Water Treatment Operator classification (class) series. Under direct or general supervision operates, repairs and maintains the District’s water treatment facilities, including water treatment and distribution systems; reads and interprets charts and meter readings for analyzing the efficiency of plant operations; maintain chemical inventory; and performs other related work as required.
The ideal candidate will possess both water treatment and water distribution certification and one or more years’ experience operating a conventional surface water treatment plant and have proven/demonstrated exceptional work ethics and performance. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications below may also be considered.
Minimum Qualification Requirements (OIT):
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license, have a satisfactory driving record, and be insurable by the District to operate District vehicles.
- Must possess Hazardous Materials Endorsement or obtain within 6 months from hire date.
- California Water Treatment Operator Grade T1 certification issued by SWRCB within 12 months of hire.
Successful candidate will be hired into the class series level according to qualifications; certification, training and experience. See job description for full details of the class series.
7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., five consecutive workdays as assigned to include one weekend day. Subject to change, as required to meet the needs of the District. Must be willing to work overtime and/or alternate schedule when required.
Grade 2 and 3 operators must be willing to participate in the on-call standby rotation on a regular basis; therefore, must live within an 18-mile radius of the District’s main facility.
Base Hourly Wage: DOQ (Successful candidates are typically hired at the first step of the range)
OIT: $22.77 – $27.68
Grade 1: $23.35 – $28.38
Grade 2: $26.45 – $32.16
Grade 3: $29.02 – $35.29

This is a Non-Exempt position. Under general supervision from the District Engineer, performs all aspects of professional land surveying to include mapping, legal descriptions and drawings for the planning, construction and maintenance of proposed and existing District facilities. Works directly with engineers, planners, construction personnel and other partners in assessing project needs. Performs other related work as required.
Education and Certification Requirements:
-High school diploma or general education degree (GED), including drafting courses.
-Possess and maintain a valid California Land Surveyor’s license issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
-Valid California Class C driver’s license and acceptable DMV record required.
-Current registration as a California Notary Public or become registered within six months of hire.
Four years minimum experience performing duties related to surveying and boundary determination at a professional land surveyors level, drafting, mapping, title search, and related design or survey work. College education in the areas specified above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to three years for any deficiencies in the required experience as determined by the District.
Hourly Pay Range: $37.30 – $45.35 plus excellent benefits!
