At the December 11, 2012, joint Mountain Counties Water Resources Association (MCWRA)/ Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) members meeting, the MCWRA executive membership elected Delbert Rotelli (Tuolumne Utilities District Board Member) and Art Toy (Amador Water Agency Board Member) to the MCWRA Board of Directors. Rotelli and Toy will begin their two-year term on January 8, 2013.
Rotelli is currently serving his second term on the Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD) Board, having first been in elected in 2006. “Our involvement with the MCWRA organization is essential to TUD in the many critical water issues facing not only our District but all the water agencies in the Sierra foothills. Board member Rotelli will be a great addition to the executive membership team of MCWRA,” stated Pete Kampa, TUD General Manager.
Organized in the early 1950s as the initial State Water Plan was being prepared, the MCWRA worked with the Department of Water Resources to identify water needs and plans for water development in the Mountain County area. In 2005, the California Department of Water Resources recognized and established the Mountain Counties as an “Area of Interest” along with the “Delta” in the California Water Plan Update; a blueprint for sustainability. There are currently 15 Sierra Foothill water agencies involved with MCWRA.
