Calaveras County Water District (CCWD), Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD), Twain Harte Community Services District (THCSD), Utica Water and Power Authority (UWPA), and Union Public Utility District (UPUD), are proud to announce their ongoing collaborative efforts to enhance wildfire resiliency in the foothills and help inform the public on the role of public water agencies in wildfire response.

With the increasing threat of wildfires, these foothill agencies have joined forces to continue to enhance wildfire preparedness and resiliency, and public information within our region.  By implementing a comprehensive approach and engaging local agency and community partners, these combined efforts aim to create a safer and more resilient community.

The primary initiative of the group was to develop a comprehensive and coordinated public information campaign aimed at raising awareness about the role that public water agencies play in enhancing wildfire resiliency. An informative flyer detailing this information can be accessed by clicking on the following link: https://tudwater.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Water-Wildfire-Flyer-V3-FINAL.pdf.

Additionally, and in alignment with their dedication to transparency and community engagement, the General Managers of TUD and UPUD, alongside Cal Fire Chief Casci and Twain Harte CSD Fire Chief Gamez, will be featured on Motherlode Views this Saturday and Sunday, May 10th and 11th, at 9:30 a.m. on KVML, on Sunday, May 11th at 9 a.m., on Star 92.7 and 10 a.m. on KKBN and will elaborate on the role that water agencies play in wildfire preparedness and response, the ongoing coordination between water and fire agencies,  and the role that property owners play in safeguarding our communities.

This joint effort underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in facing the challenges posed by wildfires.  By combining resources and knowledge, our community is better equipped to safeguard lives, properties, and vital water infrastructure.

Community members are encouraged to tune in to Motherlode Views this weekend to gain valuable insights into how our water agencies are working together to build a wildfire-resilient future.
