Mainline Water Break – Stewart Street Downtown Sonora

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2021 – UPDATE 1:40 pm

Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD) field crews responded at 11 AM to an emergency mainline water repair on Stewart Street in downtown Sonora.  The mainline water break was first reported to TUD at 10:50 AM by the City of Sonora Police Department. Residents in the area of Stewart Street, Dodge Street, Norlin Street, Upper and Lower Sunset Drives may be experiencing low water pressure to no water. A road closure will be in place on Stewart Street by the  Saint James Episcopal Church, known as the “Red Church” to Jackson Street. Field crews are working as quickly as possible to restore water service. TUD estimates water to be restored in the area by 4 PM today.

Flushing will be performed by TUD crews to clear out the water pipelines after the repair has been made and customers may experience air in their pipes. It is recommended that you run water from an outside hose bib to clear any sediment that may have been left in the pipeline. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
