Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD) will start its annual water pipeline flushing program in Sonora this week. To ensure water quality, the flushing of water lines occurs every year and will run through April 2019, weather permitting. The reason for the flushing is to clear out any sediment or minerals that may accumulate in pipes.
TUD water distribution crews will flush between 8am and 3pm. Please note, when TUD is flushing the water lines, it typically occurs near a fire hydrant. You may notice the following:
- Don’t be alarmed if you observe substantial volumes of water flowing in drainages or alongside the road. This is typical for flushing.
- You may experience fluctuations in service pressure. If pressure problems persist, please contact the District.
- If you have notice cloudy water after the water lines have been flushed, please turn on an outside hose bibb in order to flush your service line prior to where the water enters the house.
