Tuolumne Utilities District completed the Gibbs Estates Sewer Collection Improvements Project to rehabilitate and modernize aging wastewater infrastructure within the Gibbs Estates community. The project addressed deteriorated sewer mains that had contributed to sanitary sewer overflows, maintenance challenges, and increased risk of system failures. Through funding provided by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and local District contributions, TUD improved the reliability and long-term performance of the sewer collection system serving the neighborhood.
Project work included the rehabilitation and replacement of approximately 15,000 linear feet of sewer pipeline, installation of new sewer manholes, and extensive use of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) technology to renew existing sewer mains with minimal surface disturbance. The improvements reduced the potential for future sewer overflows, improved system operations and maintenance, and extended the useful life of critical wastewater infrastructure serving hundreds of residential customers in the Gibbs Estates area.
