Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD or District) announces that the Phoenix Lake Spillway and Dam Rehabilitation Project has been completed and Phoenix Lake is beginning to fill for the summer.
The Phoenix Lake Spillway and Dam Rehabilitation Project started in March 2022. The District hired a local contractor, Sierra Mountain Construction, Inc. (SMCI), to complete the rehabilitation of the spillway at the west end of the lake and resurface the spillway structure. The Phoenix Dam was also given a new overlay of shotcrete to protect it from future erosion.
“The spillway repairs have been completed and the lake will start filling this week,” states Eric Hall, Operations Director. TUD is forecasting that Phoenix Lake will near capacity by May 31, 2022.
